UTA infielder toughest in NCAA to strikeout

UT Arlington senior infielder David McLeod is the Toughest Batter to Strikeout in the nation.

He was named to the honor by the NCAA for the 2008 season.

McLeod, a four-year letter winner, struck out only five times in 200 at-bats during his senior season, for a 40-1 at-bat-to-strikeout ratio.

The infielder from Houston was named Honorable Mention Southland All-Conference as a senior.

Bobby Massa, a junior golfer at UTA, won one of the region's top collegiate tournaments.
Massa beat University of Arkansas golfer Will Osborne, 3 and 2, for his sixth win in match play to capture the tournament championship Sunday at the Cotton States Invitational in Monroe, La.

Massa joins former PGA golfers Hal Sutton, David Toms and Bill Rogers as a winner of the event.

Former UTA Mavs filling up Major Leagues

Seven. That's how many former UT-Arlington baseball players are coaching or playing in Major League Baseball this season.

It's a pretty impressive group. Troy Hillman, long considered a Rangers managerial candidate, is manager of the Kansas City Royals. His bench coach, Dave Owen, was the first Mavericks player to reach the Major Leagues in 1983 with the Chicago Cubs. Steve Foster is the bullpen coach for the Florida Marlins.
