Recently in Texas Rangers CategoryThe Texas Rangers start another season today at the Ballpark in Arlington and the Rangers think they're gonna be good this year. Now there's something we've never heard before. The Rangers say that almost every year, and 3 or 4 times in their 37 years they've been right. But if not this year, maybe soon. And if a baseball fan can't believe in April we all lose a little something that we should never give up. ...
UPDATED This comes as Hicks is seeking minority investors for the Rangers and Stars, including Rangers President and former pitcher Nolan Ryan. "We continue to interview prospective partners for the team, and we are optimisti... The 2009 version of the Texas Rangers head back to DFW this weekend. The games finally start to count Monday at 1:05 P.M. against the Cleveland Indians. The starting lineup seems to be in place and here's what it looks like(in no particular batting order): I'm on vacation right now, but had to get this off my chest. How can this kind of thing happen? How can Alex Rodriguez have an ar... It's convenient for MLB Commissioner Bud Selig to say Alex Rodriguez "shamed the game" now. But that's just shameful on his part. Selig has been commissioner since 1992 (acting commissioner from '92-98) and a team owner and administrator since 1970. The steroids era happened on his watch. If anyone in baseball is to blame for performance enhancing drugs in the game it's Selig. He's the commissioner. You don'... The Texas Rangers could be seeing Ken Griffey Jr. again and a lot. ESPN has a report saying the Seattle Mariners are very interested in bringing Junior back. But he's not been the same dynamic player since he was traded by the Mariners more than 8 years ago. (I know doesn't seem that long ago, does it?) ...The more I watch the interview and think about what Alex Rodriguez is saying the more frustrated I get. Highly conditioned professional athletes are very serious about what they put in their bodies. Their livelihood depends on it. For A-Rod to tell Peter Gammons in the ESPN interview that he wasn't really sure what he was putting in his body is exceedingly hard to believe. It's convenient to say 'oh I took some stuff,... Yankees third baseman Alex Rdriguez says the truth will set you free and since Sports Illustrated caught him in the lies he's been telling about his steroid use now he's decided to tell the truth. Not all of it, not nearly enough of it, but Rodriguez says he did use steroids when he played with the Rangers in the early part of the decade. He says that big contract was a reason, the heat in Texas another. There's someth... Things like this aren't supposed to shock us anymore. But Alex Rodriguez was supposed to have this squeaky-clean image (well aside from the Madonna stuff). A-Rod was supposed to be a natural talent. He was supposed to not need steroids to be better than everyone else. He was supposed to be just that good. Apparently, he wasn't. What makes it worse is that he did it here. As a Texas Ranger. And the Ran...
Although the last local professional sports championship win was a decade ago when the Dallas Stars won the Stanley Cup, it has been about two decades since all of our area teams missed the post-season in the same season. I know it's been rough with the Cowboys not winning a playoff game since 1996, but at least all of the teams from the four major sports (well, I'm counting the NHL as major) have made the playoffs since then. It is h... While you're out shopping on Black Friday, trying to scoop up that 40-inch HDTV on sale or attempting to diet after binging on Turkey the day before, let's all try to keep our local teams in mind this holiday season. We have a lot to be thankful for, but here are some Thanksgiving wishes for the players and teams we hold so dear. For the Cowboys: Let's wish for team harmony, better bodyguards for Pacman Jones, a long-a... It's unfortunate how the media, particularly the New England media, has jumped all over Evan Grant today after learning that he had omitted AL MVP Dustin Pedroia from his ballot. If the MVP had perhaps been from a smaller market or one not filled with baseball-crazy nuts like Boston, I'm guessing Grant would probably have flown under the radar. Alas, that was not to be the case. I have looked at Grant's ballot and the names he ... Rangers are currently playing in Chicago to finish up their series against the White Sox. The game is 3-3 going into the 3rd. Kevin Millwood has just left the game with another "apparent" injury. He wasn't wxactly lights out, and he hasn't been very good since the Rangers decided to pay him $11 million per season. Just wondering, does anyone else seem to notice that when he struggles, he always ends up hurt? I'm just playing d... We'll find out this week if we should stay tuned to the second half of the Texas Rangers season. The Rangers begin an important four-game series with the AL West-leading Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It may be the biggest series in the young managerial career of Ron Washington, who has led the Rangers for just more than a season and a half. Alex Rodriguez is use to the spotlight. The wife of the former Texas Ranger shortstop and current Yankees third baseman filed for divorce Monday. (Read full story here.) It now begs the question of what impact his personal life will have on his performance. There are two ways to look at it. One is that he ...
The good news is the Rangers broke their five-game losing streak. The bad news is it took them 14 innings and they nearly blew another late lead (5-2 in the eighth). Still they showed some resiliency. They also ...
Don't expect to see anything like the photo above from these 2 multi-millionaires anytime soon. Perhaps you've heard about the rift between Rangers/Stars owner Tom Hicks and Montr... |
