Recently in Tennis CategorySMU will be hosting some of the best tennis players in history. The Stanford Championships, one of eight events on the 2008 Outback Champions Series, the international champions' tennis circuit featuring tennis stars 30 and older will be played at SMU's Turpin Tennis Stadium. The tournament from October 22-26 will feature a field of eight players that will include Jim Courier, Todd Martin, Mark Philippoussis and defending champ... A former SMU Mustang tennis player is having a mercurial rise through the men's doubles tennis rankings. Johan Brunstrom broke into the top 100 at No. 94 after winning his first tournament and then qualifying for Wimbledon and winning a first-round match. This is how good Serena and Venus Williams are. Not only are both going to the semifinals in singles, they are also going to the semis as a doubles team.
