Recently in NFL CategorySince the first weekend in February we've been waiting for NFL games that matter. And finally here it is and there are already some intriguing story lines. Tonight we get the Giants-Redskins a NFC East rivalry that will give a taste of what we can expect for the Super Bowl champs from New York. I can't see how they can continue their incredible run that they ended last season with. They've lost two dominating defensi... It didn't take long for Cincinnati Bengals castoff Rudi Johnson to find work again in the NFL, but it is coming at the expense of Dallas native and DeSoto and Oklahoma State product Tatum Bell. Here's the details from the Associated Press: ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions signed former Cincinnati running back Rudi Johnson to a one-year deal and released running back Tatum Bell. The Lions signed Johnson on Tues... As I flew back to Dallas Monday I saw an interesting article in the in-flight magazine. It cited a recent study that says football players can get shorter during games. The point of the article is that all the pounding compresses players spines. Read more from Spirit Magazine. ...The Pro Football Hall of Fame selectors have overlooked former Dallas Cowboys receiver Bob Hayes for too long. This year, they again have the chance to include the Bullet. Simply put, Bob Hayes changed the game. He was a dominant player of his era and he forced defense to go away from just using man coverage. As world-class sprinter and two-time gold medalist, he burned defenses with speed, while still having the toughness of... No shockers here, but the Dallas Cowboys released four players today: CB Quincy Butler Butler, a TCU product, was injured for much of the preseason and faced improved corner depth. He could catch on elsewhere. Ottovegio showed some promise as a punter and kickoff man, but with Nick Folk at kicker and Mat McBriar at punter, there simply wasn't ... Injuries are a part of the game. Just tell the Cowboys who have wanted to solidify their receiving depth only to suffer injuries to backup receivers/kick returners Miles Austin and Isaiah Stanback and lost starting left guard Kyle Kosier for a few weeks with a sprained right foot. But none of those players are real impact players. Austin and Stanback could be on kick returns, but neither is in the same league as New York Gian... Brett Favre wearing the green and white of the New York Jets just isn't the way it's supposed to be. It's kind of like seeing Emmitt Smith wearing an Arizona Cardinals uniform or Tony Dorsett wearing the blue and orange of the Denver Broncos. Some things just shouldn't be. It's not like this is a new thing. Smith and Dorsett are just two of many Hall of Fame caliber players to shun their well-known wardrobe for new colors. ...From Ted Madden on his way back to Dallas from Oxnard: Have you seen the new Reebok migration commercial? First of all, it's a GREAT spot. Watch the YouTube video of it here. Secondly, Eli looks like a legitimate, all-grown-up stud in the commercial. I mean, have you ever seen a guy who looks like he's wearing his dad's clothes turn into a stud in less than ... The NFL has been trying to clean up its image under new commissioner Roger Goodell, now he wants the fans to be good sports too. Here is the official release: NFL TEAMS IMPLEMENT FAN CODE OF CONDUCT From the Associated Press: For the second day in a row, Terrell Owens wasn't an active participant in practice at Dallas Cowboys training camp Monday. Owens strolled onto the field about 35 minutes after the start of the morning session, when the team was in shorts without pads for the first of two practices scheduled Monday. It wasn't clear if T.O. would take part in the afternoon practice. Coach W... Our hard-working crew in Oxnard, Calif. has sent back a collection of photos from Tuesday's practice session at Dallas Cowboys training camp:
From all indications, everyone seems to be OK in Oxnard, Calif. after the Los Angeles earthquake (5.4 magnitude just east of LA). I was in our work... NOTE: All times PDT

Roy Williams can take a big sigh of relief. The Cowboys safety should be among the Dallas players glad to see New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey traded to the New Orleans Saints. The Saints will get second- and fifth-round picks in the 2009 draft. How many times did Shockey just find Williams in space and burn him for a touchdown? I can't count that high. And it's a good move for the Giants who did jus... Ken Hamlin will be a Dallas Cowboy for years to come and that is the right move by owner Jerry Jones. Aside for the obvious benefit of nullifying his off-season designation as the franchise player (which would give him a one-year contract at $4.4 million dollars, the average salary of the league's five highest-paid safeties), which he was not happy about, it provides stability at a position that has plagued the Cowboys since Darren Wo... The Cowboys head to Oxnard, Calif. in a week and a half. It's time to get your fix of Dallas Cowboys football. George Riba takes a look at what some of the players have been up to in the off-season. Read his story here and watch the video. And J... Stop me if you have heard this before. Two football players, one current and one former, are in very serious legal trouble today. Former Arkansas quarterback and current Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones was arrested in Fayetteville where police say he was inside a car cutting up cocaine with a credit card. (Read full sto...
Before he became the NFL MVP, LaDainian Tomlinson was a backup running back and kick returner for the TCU Horned Frogs as a sophomore in 1998. Now the San Diego Chargers star running back has been named to the 75th Anniversary All-Sun Bowl Team. TCU beat USC 28-19 in the 1998 Sun Bowl. It was the Horned Frogs' first bowl win in 41 years, dating back to a 28-27 victory over Jim Brown and Syracuse in the 1957 Cotton Bowl. ... |
