Coach Joe: Good win, yeah but now

Everyone should be very happy with the way that the Cowboys dispersed of the Seattle Seahawks. The 38-17 win was done with great efficiency in every aspect of the game. Offensively, Romo had another mistake free game with 10 different receivers getting the ball, the defense made some key stops early in the game and applied pressure constantly on Matt Hasselbeck as they continue to improve, the kicking game was again excellent as David Buehler continues to be the best draftee of the year with his booming kickoffs, and Patrick Crayton had an 82 yd punt return for his second TD of the year. All that adds up to a 5-2 record, a three game win streak, being tied for the NFC East lead, and the reaction around the city and amongst the media will be happiness for about ten seconds. Why? Because the Cowboys play the EAGLES in Philly on Sun nite football. Seattle was a bad team and the Eagles beat the Cowboys 44-6 the last time they played.

My over/under on how long it will take for Wade Phillips to be grilled about the Eagles is miles austin 3.jpgabout five minutes. That's how long they will talk about the Seahawks game before shifting to last year's game and what to expect different this time around. Right, wrong, fair or not that's the way the whole week will be. The players and coaches will have thoughts about how the media is always looking for the negative and by the end of the week they will be so very tired of hearing of last years game from the local as well as the Philly media. The local talk shows will also be fueled by hosts who spur on the callers who have no respect for the 5-2 record and only want to see what is going to be different this year against the Eagles.

What about the teams? Look at them closely and you won't see much difference in the team's production as they go into the game. The Eagles have some statistical edge in protecting the ball and on the overall defense stats. That should be negated by the fact that the Cowboys have protected the ball better in the last 3-4 games and the defense has made great strides over the last games as well. Both teams have played some teams that aren't real impressive but that will be the case all year because there are more bad teams on everyone's schedule this year then ever before in the NFL. It will be a battle of the big plays Eagles with Maclin, Jackson, Westbrook, McCoy, and McNabb to go along with an experienced Philly secondary vs the share the wealth balanced Dallas offense and the youngish improving Dallas defense. Both kicking games are excellent and can produce game changing results at any time. So if all that's true what will make a difference? Turnovers will be the difference. Mistakes, especially early in the game could allow the game to get out of balance and make someone one dimensional. This looks to be a good match up of two good teams but Wade, Tony, DeMarcus, oh yeh Jerry , good game against, let's see who did you play on Sun and what about that 44-6?
