Nascar's Carl Edwards is still looking for first win in 2009

Edwards.jpgNASCAR driver Carl Edwards stopped by North Texas today to take on a challenge issued by Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage.
The two showed up at Elm Fork shooting range for a shootout using Beretta Stampede six-shooter. Edwards won all phases of the competition after they took the blanks out of his gun. He won the two other competitions as well.

But it's the Chase for the Sprint Cup that occupies his mind. "The toughest part of the chase is you can't have a mistake or a bad day. If you're having a bad day, you have to make the best of it,' says Edwards.

He should know since he has dropped to 10th in the standings. Considering the Dickey's 500 is only a few weeks away, you would think all he has to do is stay within range of the point's leader. After all, he won the fall race in 2005 and again in 2008.

"The struggles we're having this year shows how competitive it is," he says.

Edwards won nine times last year, but remains winless this year. Still he hasn't given up hope. "Texas has been great for me," he says.

And if he can stay close, a win in Texas is certainly not out of the question.
