The Dallas Mavericks are expected to be a good team once they get all their players on the floor, but tonight, their start to the season wasn't as good as they hoped. Dirk Nowitzki looked like a one man show at times as he scored points 34 points, but it wasn't enough. The Washington Wizards won the season opener 102-to-91. Shawn Marion's debut in a Dallas uniform produced 16-points, but he got into foul trouble early. Drew Gooden finished with 2-points and four rebounds. Dallas looked out of sync in the first quarter. Their offense seemed to perk up at times, but never put together a real challenge down the stretch. Defensively, they have a lot of work to do. Missing the season opener were Josh Howard and Tim Thomas. Both are still recovering from surgery. Good thing they have 81-more games left in the season. |
