The Texas Rangers are waiting for some good news today. Sure they remain in the playoff hunt, but losing third baseman Michael Young with a hamstring injury is a tough loss. He has an MRI scheduled for later today after he strained his left hamstring running out a grounder in the third inning of the nightcap of a doubleheader. "I'm optimistic," Young said. "I'll be really aggressive with my treatment and try to get back on the field as quickly as possible." But a post game comment from second baseman Ian Kinsler was far more revealing when he said, "We need to get to the playoffs so he can play again." Young says he has never had hamstring issues, but this comes at the most inopportune time. Omar Vizquel took over last night. Chris Davis has experience playing at third base as well, but without Young in the lineup, the road the playoffs just got a whole lot tougher. |
