Should John Calipari be held responsible

The report is that later this afternoon, the Memphis basketball program will be forced to vacate their 38 wins from the 2007-08 season, a year in which the team went to the final four. But once again, the head coach in charge isn't challenged.

The NCAA has done business this way for years. What would happen if NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell were in charge of the NCAA? Would John Calipari still get a free pass? Sure he's at Kentucky now, but the infractions at Memphis happened under his watch.

Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart said last week that he isn't concerned about the potential violations at Memphis which became know after he hired Calipari. He said the coach has not been deemed "at risk" by the NCAA.

Massachusetts had their 1996 final four appearance vacated due to Marcus Camby signing with an agent during the season and guess who the coach was? John Calipari. That's twice!
