While there were a lot of rumors swirling around the Internet this weekend about Stephen Jackson coming to the Mavericks, the more logical idea would be the Warriors dumping Monta Ellis' contract into the lap of Mark Cuban. Ellis is slated to make 11 million dollars over the next four seasons, with a player option for a fifth. At 23 years old, his four year career average is 16.1 ppg. When the Warriors drafted Stephen Curry with the 7th overall pick in the 2009 draft, it appeared that Ellis could be an expendable. With all this said, finding a way to get Ellis in a Mavericks uniform is tough. Would Golden State Ellis only played in 25 games last year, starting the season on the injury list after tearing a ligament in his ankle on a moped incident. He came back in late January and got off to a very slow start. In February, Ellis took several games off, and showed marked improvement in March, during which he averaged 23.5 points per game, shooting 49% from the field and 87% from the free-throw line.
