Matt Carroll's days in Dallas done?

According to HoopsWorld.com and HoopsHype.com, the Dallas Mavericks are working on a trade with the Toronto Raptors to send shooting guard Matt Carroll north for veteran Marcus Banks. The move would be strictly a financial one for Dallas.

Carroll, who was acquired from Charlotte for DeSanga Diop last season, has four years left on carroll.jpghis contract. He is slated to make $4.7 million this season, $4.3 million in 2010-11, $3.9 million in 2011-12 and, $3.5 million in 2012-13. While Banks makes nearly the same amount of money, he only has two years left on his contract. This trade would be another attempt by Mark Cuban and crew to repair the mistake they made by over signing Diop to a five year deal worth $31 million dollars last season.

Banks is entering his seventh season and would play for his seventh team if this trade went down. He has not been a factor on a team for the last four seasons. Last season, he only played in six games before going down with a season ending toe injury in March. He reportedly refused to play for the Raptors summer league team in Vegas this summer.

One Maverick who might be excited about the move is newly acquired Shawn Marion. The two have been teammates before in Phoenix and Toronto.
