Feldman won his 14th game of the season tonight against the Minnesota Twins. The Rangers won 3-0, staying within two and half games of the Boston Red Sox. While he maybe didn't strikeout 11 batters, Feldman did roll double play balls and worked quick and efficient. Going 5 2/3 innings, he only allowed four total hits, striking out two in the process. "I was fortunate enough to sort of find it a little bit when I got into some tough situations," he told the Associated Press. "I was able to make my pitches when I needed to." When discussing the MVPs for the Rangers this season, Scott Feldman's name has to come up. Last year, I was always quick to point out Matt Harrison's record on the mound. People would come back at me saying his ERA is above five. "He just gets run support," they would say. With Feldman, you can't play that argument. His ERA is 3.87 and more importantly his WHIP is only 1.25. While Derek Holland, Neftali Feliz, and Tommy Hunter are always the ones people talk about, it's Feldman who looks like he could be a future ace in the league. "He has ability, and that ability is showing up right now," Rangers manager Ron Washington said tonight. That he does Wash! (AP Photo/Paul Battaglia) |
