Cedar Hill beats DeSoto 44-41

While watching the Cowboys, Rangers, and the Little League World Series, I was also trying to stay up with the DeSoto at Cedar Park game. What a great game to cap off the first week of high school football.

Cedar Hill, ranked No. 12th in the nation according to ESPN, used its kicking game and some costly decisions by DeSoto to record a 44-41 win over its Texas rivals in a game televised on ESPN.

I have to admit, I quit watching the game for a while. DeSoto was up 28-7 early in the 1st quarter, and looked like the far superior team. I had seen DeSoto at the 7-on-7 state championships and wasn't surprised. There are a lot of future D-1 players on that team.

That said, Cedar Hill is loaded! They came back in the 2nd quarter and were too much for DeSoto in the second half. The game outcome was over when Cedar Hill quarterback Driphus Jackson scored on a six-yard run with 5:36 remaining to put his team up 44-35.

Did you watch the game? Did I miss greatness?
