The Mavericks missed out on Marcin Gortat, and now they need some front-court help. They still have Erick Dampier for one more year, but his expiring contract is a big-time trade chip. Ryan Hollins, who the Mavs picked up last year when they traded DeSagna Diop to Charlotte, is an unrestricted free agent. He's only 25 and has a very bright upside, but even if the team resigns Hollins there's still a big gap in the roster. But it seems Lamar Odom is available, since he and the Lakers can't come to terms. Odom isn't a center with great post moves. He's a versitile player, and can play multiple spots, but being the big man isn't his best role. Still, he's 6-10 and Mark Cuban has been in contact with his agent. So, is Lamar Odom the answer for the Mavericks? He doesn't exactly meet all of the Mavs' needs, but you can't argue that Odom was a vital piece of the Laker team that just won the NBA Championship. He averaged 8 points and 11 boards per game last year. What do the Mavericks do? Should they do their best to snag Odom? Trade for a player like Tyson Chandler or Carlos Boozer? Sign and trade for a guy like David Lee or even Odom himself? Stand pat and hope Damp and Hollins have great years? There are no easy answers or fixes for the Mavs, but I'm in the camp of bringing Odom in as long as he doesn't cost the Mavs a key player in a sign and trade. i agree with bringing odom in if it does not cost them anything. but do something don't let everything past by, then be stuck holding the bag. I have seen this organization let a lot of good players go and come thru this club. Dampier is not the answer, nobody fears the mavericks inside so-called big men..... They were totally punked by golden state a few years ago.Wake up cuban get some guys with a little more fire under their asses than the ones u have..And the coach what in the sam hell has he done for any club.plese.somebody.anybody......
