We all know that Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips will be in charge of the defense this season, but apparently he will keeping close tabs on the offense this year as well. Specifically, he wants a dominant running game. Dallas has not had a 1,000 yard season from a running back since Julius Jones had 1,084 yards in 2006. He's the only Cowboys running back to top 1,000 yards since Emmitt Smith retired. "We've got to establish a stronger running game," Phillips said. "We need to get in the top 10." That may be asking a lot considering the Cowboys averaged 107.7 yards rushing per game last season. That's 21st in the league. Phillips says the Cowboys will work more on the running game than they have in the past. "If you are going to do it, then you have got to commit to it." Running back Marion Barber had 885 yards on the ground last year and in four seasons, has never topped the 1,000 yard mark. |
