Rangers bull pen showing improvement

The Rangers pitching has improved this season, but it's hard figure out just how much. But a quick comparison to last year will show you the difference.

The bull pen era last season was last in the American League at 5.15. Their era after 91 games this season is 3.91, that's 6th in the league. It shows a dramatic difference and one of the reasons the team is near the top of the American League West.

Their bull pen has been even better in their last 20-games. Try an era of 1.90, second in the league only to Tampa Bay.

The starters are pitching longer this season which seems to be putting less stress on the bull pen. The era for starting pitchers has dropped to 4.49, 7th in the league this season. Compare that to 5.51 or 13th in the league last season. Not quite as a dramatic drop, but an improvement nevertheless.
