The votes have been tallied and Ian Kinsler will not be participating in this year's All-Star game in St. Louis. Detroit's Brandon Inge has beaten out Kinsler for the 33rd and final spot. Kinlser was the leading vote-getter with 4 days left in voting for the starting 2nd baseman spot before he was passed in the final days by Red Sox nation and their choice of Dustin Pedroia. He was also second in player voting behind Aaron Hill. And now, he is 2nd in the final fan vote. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come for the Rangers as a team, all of these 2nd place finishes. There could be a positive spin to this though. Kinsler who had only missed 1 game until last night against the Angels will bow have to All-Star break off to recharge his batteries. Hopefully, this will be the rest he needs to be ready to go for the 2nd half of the season. Kinsler is currently hitting .252 with 20 home runs, 54 RBI, which lead the team in both along with 17 stolen bases. |
