The Texas Rangers are staying busy tweaking their pitching staff. That includes signing Jason Grilli, demoting Kris Benson, putting Bradon McCarthy on the DL and promoting Guillermo Moscoso.

Here's more on the moves from the Rangers:

The Texas Rangers announced the following four roster moves prior to tonight's game against Toronto:

• Acquired right-handed pitcher Jason Grilli (#52) from Colorado in exchange for cash considerations
• Placed right-handed pitcher Brandon McCarthy on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Friday, with a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade
• Outrighted right-handed pitcher Kris Benson to Triple-A Oklahoma City
• Recalled right-handed pitcher Guillermo Moscoso (#58) from Triple-A Oklahoma City

Grilli, 32, will be in uniform and available for tonight's game. He was designated for assignment by Colorado on Friday. He has gone 0-1 with a 6.05 ERA (13 ER/19.1 IP) in 22 relief appearances for the Rockies this season. Grilli had a 1.08 ERA (1 ER/8.1 IP) over 11 relief outings for Colorado in April. He had a 2.43 ERA (9 ER/33.1 IP) after the All-Star break last season. Grilli has a career 4.74 ERA over 208 games/16 starts in the majors with Florida (2000-01), Chicago-AL (2004), Detroit (2005-08), and Colorado (2008-09). He tossed 3.0 scoreless innings for Detroit in the 2006 postseason. He last pitched on Thursday at Houston, allowing one run in 1.0 inning while throwing 26 pitches.

McCarthy has gone 5-2 with a 4.92 ERA (35 ER/64.0 IP) in 11 games/starts for Texas this season. He last pitched on Thursday at New York-AL, taking a no decision in the Rangers' 8-6 loss. His 5 wins this season match his career-high (also 2007). He tossed his first career complete-game shutout on May 24 at Houston.

Benson has been outrighted off the roster to make room on the 40-man for Grilli, and he has been assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he is expected to join the starting rotation. Benson was the club's fourth starter to begin the year, but was moved to the bullpen in early May when he returned from a disabled list stint after being diagnosed with right elbow tendinitis. He has gone 1-1 with a 8.46 ERA (21 ER/22.1 IP) in 8 games/2 starts for Texas this season.

Moscoso will be in his second stint with Texas, as he was also with the club from May 29 (G2)-June 1. He made his major league debut with the Rangers on May 30 vs. Oakland, tossing a scoreless 9th inning to finish the club's 14-1 win. Moscoso opened the season at Double-A Frisco, going 3-1 with a 4.46 ERA (21 ER/42.1 IP) in 9 games/7 starts. After being optioned to Oklahoma City, he made one start/appearance, earning the win in his Triple-A debut on Wednesday vs. Memphis (6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R-ER, 0 BB, 3 SO, 96 pitches/60 strikes). Moscoso was acquired from Detroit in a trade involving Gerald Laird on Dec. 8, 2008.

After today's moves, the Rangers still have a full 40-man roster.
