Maybe it's the younger Mav fan in me or maybe it's because he is tied to the Mavericks rise to success earlier this decade. Or maybe it's after they traded him, the Mavs haven't quite had the same success. I know Marquis Daniels isn't solely responsible for all three of the aforementioned, but, personally, I want to see Marquis Daniels back in a Mavs uniform in 2009-2010. The Indiana Pacers declined the $7.3 million option on Daniels today, allowing him to test the free agent market. Would it not make sense for Cuban and Donnie Nelson to go after Marquis, albeit at less than 7.3 million? While Daniels sometimes seemed to lack interest or look lazy on the floor, the kid could play. One of the best moments of Daniels' tenure with Dallas was in game 6 of the finals against the Heat. Dallas was struggling to guard D-Wade (shocking I know) and couldn't get anything going toward the basket on the offensive end. Insert Daniels. He did his best to defend Wade, which from my perspective was better than anyone else on that Mavs roster and he scored 12 points going 4-5 from the line. Dallas didn't win the game or the finals, but it was a very gutty performance by Daniels, who had all but been left for dead on the end of the Mavs bench by then head coach Avery Johnson. If Dallas were to sign Daniels, wouldn't he immediately be penciled in at the starting 2 spot? What are your thoughts? 3 CommentsLeave a comment |

And, after he left, Josh started all his 'problems' on and off the court.
He and Josh were pretty good friends. Getting him back would help Josh too.
Oh, and I can wear my Daniels jersey again.
He was always a spark. Never understood how we could have let him go.
The same way we let Nick van Exel go and Steve Nash go and Devin Harris go. I don't know what that reason would be, but we always seem to let go of guys who played their a#@es off for us. I don't think it's a very good trend.
