Today at the Cowboys organized team workout, we got our first glimpse of Dallas' version of the trendy, single-wing, a.k.a "wildcat" formation. The Cowboys are calling it the "Razorback" in a nod to Jerry Jones and running back Felix Jones alma matter Arkansas. Both Jones' salivating, no doubt; Felix especially. He ran the offense with Darren McFadden in college and gave SEC defenses fits. Today the Cowboys version featured Patrick Crayton taking some snaps with Jones in motion through the backfield. Tony Romo was split wide left in one formation, with Roy Williams in the slot. Wade Phillips says the offense has obvious limitations with a quarterback not used to throwing and a receiver (Tony Romo) not used to catching. But even so, it could be a nice wrinkle, and we know what happened last season when Jones found himself in open space. Don't expect to see a lot of it, but its good to know Jason Garrett is trying everything he can to make that Cowboys offense evolve. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |
