And the winner is... Laurie Phillips

I'm sure you've seen the clips on Channel 8 the last day or so of me trying my best to dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller." It was part of Top Hat and Tails, a local fund raiser for Paws in the City. It was held at the Flight Museum at Love Field Saturday night.

Little did I know the video would close so many newscasts. For the record, the judges of Kellie Rasberry, Tony Dorsett and Claudia Marshall gave Bailey Kenzington and me three 10's for a perfect score of 30. Trust me, there was more than one flaw in that routine, but it was nice to get the score.

I also didn't realize it wouldn't be good enough to win because the crowd got to vote as well. Oops! Just like the TV show. Laurie Phillips, the wife of Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips had great support from the crowd and won the event despite getting a 28 on her routine. She was great though, and has the talent to prove it. Apparently zombies weren't the overwhelming crowd favorite, but the response was fabulous. Maybe it was the spiked hair!

Phillips opened his press conference in Carrollton today by saying, "I am Laurie Phillips' husband who won Dancing with the Stars, Preston Pearson's Paws in the City," he said. "She really worked hard at it. She's talented. My daughter is a dancer so you know where she got it. It wasn't from me."

Maybe it's a good omen for the Cowboys. Said Wade Phillips, "She won a championship. That's the first one this year for our family."

I didn't realize Wade Phillips had that much pull from the audience, but it sure was fun. I suppose now the folks at Arthur Murray dance studio can return to some sort of routine.

You can watch the video here.
