Red-hot Rangers sweep Angels

Do you believe now?

The Texas Rangers have won seven games in a row and swept the A.L. West favorite Angels in a weekend series in Arlington.

The Rangers now have a 4.5 game lead in the West and, at 23-14, are nine games above .500, the only team in the West above .500.

How are they doing it? Timely hitting, but mostly pitching.

Texas leads the AL with a 3.05 ERA in May.

Sunday, Scott Feldman got the start for the Rangers and he combined with Jason Jennings, Eddie Guardado and Darren O'Day to shutout the Angles, 3-0.

To say the Rangers are hot is an understatement. They've won or tied their last eight series, including consecutive sweeps over division foes LA of Anaheim and Seattle.

Only one team in the majors (the LA Dodgers) have fewer losses.

This team loves playing together and seemingly finds a way to win even when some of their biggest stars are out.

Closer Frankie Francisco was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to May 7) and can return by Friday.

Sunday, outfielder Josh Hamilton left Sunday's game against the Angels prior to the eighth inning after crashing into the padded wall in right-center while making a spectacular leaping catch in the seventh. He came off the 15-day disabled list earlier this week after missing 13 games with a rib injury sustained when he crashed into the outfield wall in Toronto.

He had X-rays and should be fine.

The red-hot Rangers get Monday off before heading to Detroit for a three-game series.
