Rangers mania cooled by Yankees

kinssss.jpgEvery once in awhile, the Rangers will play a game that forces fans to question whether this team truly is for real. Or not.

That game happened today in Arlington. The Yankees are rolling on Memorial Day, up 10-0 in the 7th inning.

Does this miserable display change your perception of our area darlings?

The major league season is six months long and the occasional nightmare game is inevitable. So it's hard to take the Rangers to task over this one. The starting pitching has been third best in all of baseball over the past month. Texas also owned the best record in the American League heading into Memorial Day.

Ironically, the offense has been the achilles heel of the team so far. This group of hitters hasn't busted out the way they're truly capable. But this should be of little concern, as the lumber will show up eventually.

Still, fans are asking meaningful questions. Who will head to the bullpen to make way for Derek Holland? Is Chris Davis going to set a major league record for most strikeouts by a batter in a season?

And what in the world does Kris Benson do for this team besides surrender runs at an alarming rate and provide the eye candy of his model wife?

We'll get the answers to all these and more eventually.

This team is not for real.

Same team that finished under .500 last year, and will again this year. No major changes in the off-season, and a pitching staff nobody ever heard of. Tom Hicks continues to make big money on mediocrity, and we get to watch a AAA team play big leaguers. If you think today was bad, wait until the upconing scorching summer, as we plummett in the standings.

Wake me when it's over, I'll be in Frisco watching the Roughriders.
