The Rangers are in first place with the best record in the American League. The Cowboys get back to OTA practices on Tuesday. And the Mavericks have many offseason needs to address. So what are Metroplex sports fans talking about? Tonight on SportsTalk (6:30 PM, KFWD 52), viewers inexplicably called in once again with their thoughts on Michael Vick, wondering what he might bring to the table for some team. Do people have nothing better to do on Memorial Day? Isn't there a big ole barbeque for someone to attend? Never in my 14+ years in this business have I encountered a more ridiculous and omnipresent sports topic that just refuses to go away. Michael Vick is a much overrated quarterback who shamed himself and his name with reprehensible cruelty towards dogs. End of story. What else needs to be discussed? Can't this despicable human being crawl away into obscurity and leave DFW sports fans with other things to talk about? Vick was, emphasis on was, an outstanding athlete but never fulfilled his potential as a pro quarterback. It was painfully obvious that he was a wide receiver or running back who thought he could pass. He couldn't. So why should we care? If Vick truly has paid his debt to society, good for him. He can redeem himself privately, with prayer and with living a life of renewed purpose and purity. And if some sad excuse for an NFL team wants to take on the public relations nightmare that comes with employing a dog killer, that team will sign Vick. That team won't be the Cowboys. The brass has already indicated no interest. So can we let this topic fade away? No more Michael Vick phone calls to SportsTalk. Please. 3 CommentsLeave a comment |

I don't see a possibility of the Cowboys signing Vick. If they were, it would be wi the thought of DB or WR. He's not an NFL caliber QB. Yeah, get rid of Owens to make it more Romo-fiendly, then sign Vick. No.
I'm confuse the person in the articles call Vick a despicable human being, then turn around and say if Vick paided his debt and redeem himself in prayer. I do agree on one thing they need to let it go, and I hope some team give him a chance to play.
Personally I don't hold any grudge for what Vick did. I would love the honor of shooting every pit bull in america myself. And don't give me that crap about them being good if they are raised righ. Everyday we read where one had mutilated or killed someone. It's in their dna. But I don't think any team could stand the repercussions that would come from the world if they signed him. Vick is a good athlete but not an nfl athlete. I grew up in the country where my dad and his dad before him would shoot any dog that killed a chicken or wouldn't hunt right. Back then everyone did. So Vick didn't set a precedent at all. His punishment was too harsh, and people need to get over it.
