Just not the kind he wants to. Davis has already struck out 66 times this season and is on pace to shatter the single-season MLB record of 204 set by Arizona third baseman Mark Reynolds last year. The question is, what to do with Davis? He's becoming a real liability in the lineup, not only with the strikeouts but a crippling Mendoza-line batting average of .200. Exactly one third of his hits are home runs, so it's either feast or famine with Davis. Can the Rangers live through this? Especially with uber-prospect Justin Smoak smoking in the minors? Texas could live with Davis's propensity to strike out if he brought more to the table. But when he's not striking out, he's not getting hits either. He's walked just ten times. He's just not getting on base. And the Rangers can ill afford a rally killer, especially when their starting pitching is keeping them in games like never before. Davis is a good kid with a solid baseball IQ, but seems in over his head this season. He's just 23 years old and has room for plenty of maturing in his game. Only time will tell how much patience Ron Washington will have with the kid, in the heat of a pennant race. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

You forget to mention that his defense has been sparkling. His 2 homeruns last night really made a difference. Why give up so soon? His up side is tremendous. Give the kid a chance. I always thought if he'd just tip his batting helmet back a little he could see the ball better!
CHRIS DAVIS HAS MORE HOME RUNS THEN hamilton so EAT IT hamilton
