The Dallas Mavericks have had a bizarre week and it got even stranger Saturday afternoon. Down 2-0 in their playoff series with the Denver Nuggets, the Mavericks faced essentially a must-win game in their best of seven series. No NBA team has ever won a playoff series when down 3-0. The Mavs looked like they would win the game, controlling most of the fourth quarter. But Carmelo Anthony hit a three-pointer with one second left to put the Nuggets up 106-105. It ended a week unlike any other for the Mavericks and Dirk Nowtizki, no need to go over Dirk's week again. The Mavs got gutty play for Nowitzki, Jason Terry, Josh Howard, Brandon Bass and Jason Kidd. Dirk had 33 points and 16 rebounds. Kidd and Terry hit timely three-pointers down the stretch, but it was Anthony's three-pointer that shocked Dallas. Antoine Wright wanted to foul Anthony before his shot, but it wasn't called. Game and, effectively, series over. Game 4 is Monday at 8:30 p.m. at the AAC in Dallas. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

No need to be crying foul now. Carmelo Anthony 3 pointer wouldn't have been a factor if the Mavs wouldn't have let the Nuggets hang around like they did. I like Nowitzki, But times running out. Its time for Nowitzki to follow in the foot steps of Michael Finley, to have a chance at a ring. (Sad but True Dallas Fans.) So Bring on the Cowboys cause this series over.
Mavs have to make more plays but I am done with the NBA after watching the playoffs this year. I too am convinced it is a league of protected stars and influenced NBA league officiating.
Its just entertainment and nothing more. More college and high school basketball in my future which ESPN is featuring now too. Wonder why?
