The bizarre feud between Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and the mother of Denver Nuggets player Kenyon Martin may be over. It all started after that dramatic loss in Game 3 at the AAC. Cuban says a fan called the Nuggets "thugs" and then Cuban says he told Martin's mom, "That includes your son." Martin's agent told the Denver Post that Cuban said, "Your son is a punk." Kenyon Martin addressed the situation Monday morning. "I'm gonna take care of it," he said. Cuban posted an apology on his blog early this morning. "I would like to apologize to you and your mom KMart for my comment. I should have not said anything and I was wrong. Hopefully you will accept the apology and we can move on," Cuban wrote. Here it is in it's entirety: "It started as a smart ass comment that I know that no one heard. How do I know, because there was a reporter right there next to me, as well as other people who saw the whole thing and didnt hear a word of it. But at this point, that has become irrelevant. It doesnt matter why I said it. I shouldn't have said anything. Now, the reality is that this has gotten out of hand. When tempers and such start impacting the fan experience both in Dallas and Denver, and it requires special security, thats not what I want for Mavs or Nuggets fans. No one takes more abuse and gets more threats on the road than I do. So I know exactly how it feels. I've also had my family and friends spit on at games in this series. So I know how unpleasant that is as well. It's a dirty secret that all arenas need to do a better job of protection for visiting team fans, particularly during the playoffs. So at this point I would like to apologize to you and your mom KMart for my comment. I should have not said anything and I was wrong. Hopefully you will accept the apology and we can move on. When the series comes back to Dallas, your family, and the family of other Nuggets players are welcome to stay in my suite, with my family. Its amazing how tempers mellow when real people talk to each other and realize that its still just a game. If that isn't acceptable, I'm happy to provide a suite, free of charge to them as well and place whatever security is needed to make them feel comfortable. We tried to have enough additional security for them tonight as well, but I know your family and friends didn't feel as comfortable as they should. I apologize for that as well. This arena is my responsibility, we could and should do a better job. So if we can put this behind us, I will make sure when the series comes back to Dallas, your family and friends, and that of your teammates are very comfortable at our Arena. Cuban is the head whiner with the Mavs. He
makes it OK for them to be weak. They are
gutless and apparently so is he. He makes
sure he is surrounded by some big meat to
protect him when he shoots his mouth off.
I'm glad Mark Cuban apologized in his blog. I hope he will also offer a apology on the phone or in person. Good job, Mark Cuban!
IT IS TOO BAD THAT MARK CUBAN, MAV OWNER, CONTINUES TO EMBARASS OUR CITY. IT IS ONE THING TO BE PASSIONATE ABOUT SOMETHING. IT IS ANOTHER TO BE RUDE AND CRUDE. MARK CUBAN IS NOT COOL. HE IS NOT A GENTLEMAN NOR A ROLE MODEL FOR OUR YOUTH. HIS SOLUTION IS TO USE THE "F" WORD WHEN HE IS MAD OR UPSET. UNFORTUNATELY, HE IS THE PUNK AND THUG.
I'm glad Mark Cuban stepped up and expressed his apology to KMart and his mom, I understand it was the heat of the moment and sometimes words get out of hand.
Going after someone's Mom is a bit over the top, but seriously - Cuban speaks the truth. Anyone willing to argue that Kenyon Martin is NOT a thug?
Cubans apology is as gutless as he is. Something like this should have been done face to face, not through the press. The reason you have fans acting like idiots and needing security is they take their lead from the owner who thinks it ok. After a face to face apology, then go on TNT pregame live and apology. Short of this, I hope Kenyon breaks his foot off in his backside.
KM. Kenyon Martin would not be a called a
"thug" if he were playing for the beloved Mavericks.
