For a minute Wednesday night I thought I was going to wear out the previous channel button on my TV remote. Two games, Mavs-Rockets and Rangers-Orioles, were entertaining and compelling two entirely different ways. One was tight most of the game with comebacks and emotion, and playoff seeding at stake. The other was an old-fashioned blowout, a drubbing that including some amazing individual performances, including Ian Kinsler delivering maybe the most prolific single-game performance in Rangers history. The Mavs game was more important so we start there. They were already in the playoffs, but with the win could move to the sixth seed, face the Spurs and reach 50 wins for the ninth consecutive season. They did it, beating the Rockets 95-84. And the Spurs won too (thanks to a last second jumper by ex-Mav Michael Finley to send it to OT), 105-98 over New Orleans, setting up the Spurs-Mavs first-round match up. Here's some of why both were amazing nights for the Mavs and Rangers: Key play for Mavs: Brandon Bass's offensive rebound that lead to a Jason Terry 3-pointer and a five point Mavs lead with 3:20 left. Key play for Rangers: Nelson Cruz's 2-out grand slam in the fourth, which gave the Rangers a 10-3 lead en route to a drubbing in the 19-6 win. Key performances for Mavs: Jason Kidd had his third triple-double of the season with 11 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Dirk Nowitzki had 30 points and 15 rebounds. Key performances for Rangers: Kinsler was 6 for 6 and hit for the cycle. He had two singles, two doubles, a triple, home run, stolen base, four RBI and five runs. Marlon Byrd had five hits and Cruz had the slam and narrowly missed another, instead he got a double and settled for six RBI. What could be lost in the Rangers win: two scoreless innings pitched by the just activated from the DL Willie Eyre. And something not to overlook from the Mavs: Josh Howard played through struggles to get 15 points and two blocks in 36 minutes back on the court. What at night. My remote is still recovering. Editor's note: Here's the Mavs-Spurs playoff schedule. 4 CommentsLeave a comment |

I was in sports Heaven last night with picture and picture, not a moment was lost with the radio broadcast simultaneously on 105.3 The Fan. My dog was a little confused with all the sound but I was keyed in to both. Yeah Rangers abd Mavs!
I need a TV with picture in picture... or two TVs.
