For all of you MFFL who, after game one, were already looking to the second round of the playoffs, well, it's not going to be that easy. The Spurs are a proud team, a team with four NBA Titles in the past decade. They don't go down easy. It sure helps when you have Tony Parker, but the Mavs aren't right tonight and it's more than just Dirk limping around a little in the end of the third quarter. That big win Saturday night was impressive, but we should have known J.J. Barea, Brandon Bass and Erick Dampier can't lead the Mavs to a series win. So as bad as this one is, the important thing to remember is the Mavericks really did what they needed to do on the trip to San Antonio, they won a game and turned home court advantage. Now they come back to Dallas (barring a miraculous comeback, they trail 85-63 at the end of three as I write this) tied 1-1 with three more games at the AAC and just two back in the Alamo City. So as warned not to get cocky before, I'm saying not to get too down now. It's a seven game series and there will be ebbs and flows. What's crucial now is how the Mavs respond Thursday night, if they come back energized and hungry then they're right back in the series. |
