Tiger, Phil good competition, not friends

Watching Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson battle in their Masters pairing was amazing. Shot after shot, battle after battle.

It was some of the most amazing individual competition, amazing because they're not actually playing each other. There's no offense or defense. It's each man trying his best to navigate at Augusta.

But what sticks out for me is their demeanor. They certainly don't seem to like playing with each other too much.

Professional, polite. Sure.

The firm handshake after the 18th, quick and impersonal.

They are the two best golfers going and it's clear there isn't a lot of love lost.

Players like Kenny Perry and Angel Cabrera showed emotion, genuine human emotion as they played.

Tiger and Phil, not so much. It's amazing for two men who compete so much.

Maybe it's easier that way.

Just imagine if you were competing against a close friend.
