Maybe something positive to look forward to from the Rangers bullpen, maybe.

Here's the official release from the Rangers:

The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Willie Eyre from his rehabilitation assignment and activated him from the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the 25-man roster for Eyre, the club has optioned right-handed pitcher Warner Madrigal to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Eyre (#55) will be in uniform and available for tonight's series finale against Baltimore.

Eyre (pronounced AIR), 30, began the season on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain. He tossed 1.2 scoreless innings over 2 relief appearances on a rehab assignment for Oklahoma City (AAA), allowing one hit with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. He pitched 1.0 scoreless frame for the RedHawks last night at Nashville. Eyre was 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA (1 ER/6.0 IP) over 6 relief appearances for Texas this spring, allowing just one walk with 7 strikeouts.

Eyre is seeking to make his first big league appearance in over a year-and-a-half. He missed nearly all of 2008 after having 'Tommy John' ligament transplant surgery on his right elbow in August of 2007, but made 8 starts in the Arizona Fall League in October/November. He last pitched in a major league contest on Aug. 16, 2007 vs. Kansas City. Eyre is 5-6 with a 5.23 ERA (74 ER/127.1 IP) in 75 games/2 starts in his big league career with Minnesota (2006) and Texas (2007).

Madrigal has allowed 4 runs in 2.2 innings over 3 relief appearances for Texas this season. He retired one of 2 batters faced in last night's loss against Baltimore. The 25-year-old converted outfielder made his major league debut with Texas last season in what was his second full season on the mound.

After today's moves, the Rangers still have a full 40-man roster.
