Plaxico Released By Giants...Next Stop, Cowboys?

Almost as soon as I read that Plaxico Burress had been released by the Giants, thoughts naturally turned to Jerry Jones and the Cowboys.

Why wouldn't Jerry be interested in bringing Plax to Valley Ranch?

Two words- Terrell Owens.

Jones said he's intent on making this team more "Romo friendly." If that is truly the case, there is no chance the Cowboys go out and sign Burress. Jerry is firmly back in "good cop" mode, currently not interested in the troubled athlete of the moment. This is the same territory he previously manned when he passed up on Randy Moss in the draft, saying "I get it", that class matters.

We'll see how long that lasts. If the Cowboys go 7-9 this season, you can bet the Plaxico's of the world will see their way to Arlington again.

Still, the notion of Burress lining up opposite Roy Williams is an intriguing one. You keep him in the NFC East, with a golden opportunity to make the Giants pay. It'll never happen and shouldn't happen, but you'd have to be foolish not to even consider the option.

Read why fellow blogger Aaron Chimbel thinks today's developments are good news for the Cowboys.

Is that a guarantee David?
You have inside information on what Jerry/Stephen do?
You might as well add the Chad Johnsons and all the other LOOK AT ME wr's to that list David as to who the Cowboys will sign.. Let's convert Michael Vick to WR... Yes, the Cowboys will sign whoever you think they should sign 'cause you said so..

Gotta love Dallas reporters for knowing all ...

Oh Bradley, gimme a break. I am only going by Jerry Jones' past history. He had that period of "moral" behavior when he passed on Moss and decided to better the atmosphere at Valley Ranch. Then the Cowboys had years of 6-10 finishes. And then the questionable characters started to arrive again. The T.O's, the Pacman Jones's, the Tank Johnsons.

You're a naive man if you expect Jones won't repeat his own history.
