Mavs will win tonight

One thing you can say about the Dallas Mavericks - they are utterly predictable.

Does that make them different from most NBA teams? Probably not, although I haven't gone through all the other teams' schedules. But tonight, the Mavs are playing at home, against an Eastern Conference team (Miami) whose record is 39-35. Dallas is 26-and-9 at home, and 20-and-9 against Eastern Conference teams. All year long, the Mavs have pretty much won all the games they're supposed to win, and lost all the games they were supposed to lose.

That's neither bad nor good. It just is.

For almost the entire season, the Mavs have been in the 8th spot in the West. And for almost the entire season, the gap between the 8-seed and the 2-seed has been very small (as of now it's only 4.5 games). Despite the fact that these other teams are within striking distance, the Mavericks have not struck. Instead, they are stuck ... in the 8th spot. And unless something happens that hasn't happened yet, they will play LA in the first round, and we all know what that means.

Ahhh yes, Mr. Madden, yes we do know what that means. Church.
