I'd love to get caught up in the Mavericks latest win streak and begin to actually give them a chance to make a run at least a couple rounds deep in the NBA playoffs. I was there for just about all of the games that led to their western conference championship 3 year ago. They were some of the most exciting games I've witnessed since moving here to North Texas 6 years ago. I'd like nothing more than to believe the Maverick nation can get just a taste of what that was like again. And I really do mean just a miniscule morsel. But here's the problem: the Mavericks are like that slick, cheesy car salesman we've all encountered - you just can't trust them. Dirk Nowitzki and I actually on exactly the same page when it comes to this team. Here's what the talented German had to say after his team just finished absolutely throttling Phoenix, Utah, and New Orleans this week: "The good teams put it together for a lot longer than two or three games," he said. "We had some two or three game stretches where things actually looked pretty good. The next thing you know, we get blown out again. We won some nice home games here, but I thnk the true test is on the road." That's exactly it. Couldn't agree more. Dirk couldn't have said it any more clear. Here's hoping his teamates took it as a challenge, and have what it takes to answer the bell. That bell sounds tomorrow at high noon in New Orleans. Will the Mavs be ready to pass that true test on the road? You can watch the game right here on Channel 8. Enjoy your Easter! |
