Ian Kinsler Says He Got Too Excited

Ranger's second baseman Ian Kinsler's base running mistake probably cost the Rangers a win last night. Before the game against the Orioles tonight, he messed up. "I got caught up in the emotions of the game," says Kinsler. "It was a tough loss."

But what was he thinking and what made him decide to not stay on base? "I got a little too excited and got out of position," says Kinsler. "It's something that will probably never happen again. I don't think I've done that since little league. It's kind of a once in a million kind of deal, and that one last night kind of hurt a little bit."

Obviously Kinsler misread the play, thinking the ball would be off the wall, or maybe even a home run.

"It might have been a boo boo, but it was a boo boo that helped everyone else understand that those are the kind of things we have to execute."

It's the kind of mental mistake that Washington says the Rangers would not commit when he took over as manager.
