The Stars lose another game at home Sunday night, that's six in a row now and stars coach Dave Tippett blames Stars center Mike Modano With 16 games to play, the Stars are out of a playoff spot now, but only because of a tiebreaker. There's about five or six teams that could still get one of those playoff spots, but Tippett said Sunday night they need more from Modano. He calls out Modano for goodness' sakes. Modano is the golden child. He is hockey in Dallas. But when the Stars keep losing because they're not scoring even Modano gets blamed, well it sure seemed like it anyway. But it was the media's fault. Which is OK with me because if it was a report about hockey you know it's not my fault. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

Modano has slowed down the last couple of years, which I love the guy, but I see him standing around a lot in the background at times in games. Maybe his heart is not into it like it was, but I think when he does actually play aggressive, it lifts the team up, sort of like Steve Ott. But Modano has paid his dues, he will always be the face of the Stars for years to come, to put the blame on him is neither right or wrong, but I think if he steps his game up a bit, the rest of the team will respond in a positive way. Also, Dave Tippet, needs to keep lines together more and not mix & match so much. A coach in waiting is possible, the name Guy Carbonneau sounds like it might be a good fit if they let Tippet go.
You can't blame Modano for the Stars woes! There are times that he needs to step it up sure but when your the only one putting forth an effort why try?? I blame Turco and Tippet! Turco needs to get his head out of his butt and start defending the goal. we aren't going to win anything with a goalie that gives at 3-4 goals most games in the 3rd! Sure it isn't always his fault either but your goalie is the last line of defense and he truly needs to STEP IT UP! Block all the shots not just the hard ones and let the easy ones when your one on one go over your shoulder or through your legs! Tippett needs to COACH and not place blame on anyone. I agree that he needs to STOP mixing the line and let them play the roles they are supposed to play and maybe if the Stars knew what line they were playing with they could score more goals. Half the time they set up a puck expecting someone to be there and NO ONE is there. That is the case most times with MO. He is so fast and there is never anyone in front of the net to take a shot at the set up pass. Hatcher and Hull used to always be there in front of the net ready to take the shot. Mo can't be blamed. I love him and I am so glad he stayed with the Stars, but he could have won so many Stanley cups with another team that would play him the way he should be played. And that's my 2 cents worth!
