The TCU women's basketball team is on a bus this afternoon, headed to Lubbock for their first round game Sunday against South Dakota State. It's their 8th appearance in nine years in the NCAA tournament, and only the second time they've been able to play within a 1,000 miles of the TCU campus. "I thought it was a joke at first, says Head Coach Jeff Mittie, "because we've never been closer than Ruston, Louisiana." Mittie says that's fantastic for TCU fans who are expected to swarm to Lubbock this weekend to support the Lady Frogs. "We're the one team that's been sent across the country every year. Finally, we get to play were people can see us who are familiar with us." Ironically, TCU played in Lubbock a year ago when they played Texas Tech in the NIT. |
