It was a decision a lot of people wanted Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to make and a decision a lot of people didn't think he would. Terrell Owens can be a very good player, and while some players liked Owens in that locker room, a lot of players didn't, so now he's gone. Owens gets the word last night in Miami that he wouldn't be back with the Cowboys this year and it had to be a hard decision for Jones to make. Jones brought Owens to the Cowboys three years ago and his coach at the time, Bill Parcells, wouldn't even call Owens by name. He simply called him the player. Parcells has said Owens had to go and now he's gone. 16 CommentsLeave a comment |

T.O. never should have been a Cowboy to begin with after what he did on our Star! He was an insult then and continued to be an insult to the Cowboys.
Nice to see him leave town. No one talks about the frop passes. How many balls he dropped when it counted the most? After standing on our STAR, I was shocked that he became a Cowboy. Nice that he is gone.
Eliot, I have said the same thing for years. Im glad that he is gone. When you have 1 bad seed in a team, it bring the team down. It is the same in anything like business, so what makes anyone think football would be different?
Look how well the Stars are getting along since they axed Avery.
The Broncos where going to take him before Dallas did untell they ordered Dr. Reports on TO from SF and Philly on his mental health a said no why after seeing the Dr. Reports. Dallas did not order and look at those reports 3 years ago. Dale Hansen was also right!
Anytime a black man is aggressive,(high strung), he is pitched as a person with too much attitude, therefore everyone gets intimidated, and starts ranting,,,, he's got to go.Forget about credentials and productivity, this one is not passive enough.....READ BETWEEN THE LINES...AMERICA, WAKE UP..........T.O. got a bad rap.....shame on you jerry jones. i pray GOD will open up a bettter door of opportunity for T.O.; COWBOYS Were my favorite team, but not anymore, of course i'm only 1 in a million.
Glad the Cowboys released Terrell Owens. T.O. had become the face of the Cowboys. Whenever I saw a TV report, T.O. usually was mouthing off to get attention. I am tired of off-the-field drama. The Cowboys need to get their act together on the field and get back in the playoffs.
T.O. is gone, now is the time for the whole team to gel, work together, respect all coaches & players. No more contreversy, time for more wins and wins in the play-off column. Cowboys Play Ball!!!
To quote my sainted Mother when my sister divorced her husband,"good riddance to bad rubbish". The collective "we" are glad he's gone. To Laverne, "take off the blinders darlin and dump the race card, no matter his skin color, the guy is an egotistical jerk".
A good move. Owens is an aging receiver obviously in decline .... see his stat of only having 2 100 receiving games last season. This is what happens when players age....their production declines. Not saying that he does not still have the tools to put up some great stats for a couple of seasons, but the drama he brings to any TEAM is really not worth the headaches that it may cause for the TEAM. As for the fans that feel like this is the end of the world and do not want to support the Cowboys over this move, then you were never really Cowboys fans to begin with....just TO fans. Football is a team sport, and I support the TEAM. The Cowboys will be better off now that they can concentrate on just playing football and not worry about the number of passes thrown to a certain player, the questioning of the coaches'game plans, and the back and forth in the media. This blog really stated it best when it described TO as a team destroyer. Based off his history, it unfortunately appears to be true. If there was no division in the locker room instigated by the Drama Queen, then this move would not have occurred. There are some good receivers available out there that could fill his spot. Players that do their talking on the field. I look foward to 2009 season.
TO did himself in. He is a great football player but a lame excuse for a human being.
Laverne, you are the problem with America. It is always racial with you. You can't see anyone without seeing their color first. You are the problem. I bet you are collecting welfare and food stamps, and claiming the white man is holding you back, cuz you'd be da best damn CEO this country ain't never seen, but it ain't gonna see it cuz da white man be holding you back.
Get a life and a real job.
Jerry Jones did what he had to do. It is all about the business for him and the image of the Cowboys. I read on the Yahoo main page that other teams do not want Terrell Owens. What a tough lesson to learn about misbehaving.
Looks like we're all in agreement except for Laverne who seems to think it's because he's black. I guess she didn't notice all wide recievers are african-american on the Cowboys and that this is the pattern he's made for himself. It's like the woman who has been married 5 times, after 3 and 4 you realize there just may be something wrong with her, not all the mean, abusive men she seems to hook up with!!
It is unfortunate and sad to waste that much talent because of what goes on, or doesn't, between the ears. I truly wish he could have worked out for us and helped bring another championship to America's Team. Obviously, he had to go.
Laverne, I appreciate your passion but I do disagree with your assessment of T.O. as a TEAM player.
Finally, to John. Way to show your maturity. You are a blithering idiot. Be a man, grow up and try to find some form of class. Until you do, we all would greatly appreciate it if you would tap on the brakes when you think you want to post a comment in here.
Nice smoke screen Jerry!
This aught to take the heat off of you stepping down as General Manager! For awhile anyway.
Dale, you said a lot of players in the Cowboys locker room didn't like T.O. Name them. I don't believe there were. I think you are just making this up.
In his first season and first playoff game with the Cowboys it was Terrell Owens who fumbled away an easy snap that wouldve guaranteed a victory over the Seattle Seahawks, which would have put them into a game against the eventual NFC champion Chicago Bears. In the year after in the playoffs it was apparently Terrell Owens who stopped short on his route and watched a sure touchdown throw fall harmlessly on to the turf in the last seconds at home against the eventual super bowl champion New York Giants. In his last season with the Cowboys, since he was cut today, it is apparent Owens is at fault for not signing a backup quarterback who could throw the football farther than twenty yards, and being a part of a defensive unit that allowed record setting back to back eighty plus yard runs in a game they had locked up. This same game wouldve guaranteed them a spot in the playoffs. In his last game as a member of the Cowboys he also played the worst game of his life as a quarterback, not to mention anchoring a defense which allowed the Philadelphia Eagles offense to put up 44 points ipotnyc (3/6/2009 at 12:53 AM) Report Violation Romo is an overrated, overpaid teen idol. Jones jumped the gun with that lavish contract. Romo's problems go beyond his receiver set. Sure, he has shown signs of great stuff, but inconsistency is not what makes a franchise pla
