When the jump shots are falling, this team can be so fun to watch. That comeback against the Lakers showing the MFFLers everywhere that their team can hang. Jason Terry is one of my favorite players and his career-best tying 7 3 pointers set up what could have been an incredible win. But it didn't happen because the jumpers stopped falling. And that's the problem, and its been this way for a couple of years now. Get this team in a big game/playoff game situation, and the jumpers don't fall as much, just the way it works in basketball. And they don't have enough defensive intensity or an inside presence to help out when the outside shots don't fall. In those type of games, ask yourself how many times have you seen Dirk, with the shot clock on his back, being forced to take an off-balance fade-away jumper. Pretty when it works, but the later you get in the season, the less likely it will. Look for more of the same in the coming weeks, although you probably won't have to look long. Trying to win the way they are now probably won't get them out of the first round. |
