J.J. Barea was our guest last night on Tylock Lasik SportsTalk (6:30 PM, M-F, KFWD, channel 52) and seemed quite confident of the Mavs' potential in the playoffs. I asked Barea what potential matchup problems the Mavs might have with some of the top teams in the West and he replied, "none." "I think those teams should be afraid of us," Barea said. J.J. did acknowledge that the Lakers probably don't care who they face in the first round. As of today, the Mavs would be L.A.'s first round opponent. Barea also discussed his childhood in Puerto Rico at length, including his traumatic birth and near death. Barea admitted he still uses the knocks at his height as motivation, and that opposing benches sometimes trash-talk him during games because of it. If the Mavs can get healthy and take on J.J.'s attitude, that first round series would be interesting. It's easy to see why J.J. is a fan favorite at the AAC. |
