The Dallas Cowboys have acquired quarterback Jon Kitna to back up Tony Romo.

The Cowboys sent cornerback Anthony Henry to Detroit in Saturday's trade.

Kitna finished the 2008 season on injured reserve because of a back injury and was not expected to return to the Lions. He is due a $1 million roster bonus March 3.

Kitna started four games for Detroit last year, completing 68 of 120 attempts for 758 yards and five touchdowns with five interceptions.

Henry started all 16 games for Dallas last season, recording 55 tackles, two sacks and one interception. He played four seasons with the Cowboys.

we aquired the 2nd string QB from the worst NFL team in history. Sounds like a winner Jerry!

The same backup QB from the worst NFL team in recorded history? a little dissappointed jerry.

WHAT?? Jon Kitna??? all the more reasons to stay home and watch the game than to pay a ridiculous amount of money for tickets and parking. Jon Kitna give us a break Jerry!!!

Does Jerry really believe that he has found a legitimate backup to Tony? As far as I'm concerned he has stayed status quo at the quarterback position and weakened the defensive secondary.

I can see this...when healthy Kitna can produce...was going to do something else with Henry anyway. Now maybe take a look at Springs. I like the move. Somebody proven to push BNY!

So much for the idea of moving Henry to safety!

weren't there plenty of QB's out there to choose from that wouldn't require a trade?

Jerry needs to go see the Dr. again and get his face loosening. the Surgery is cutting out the blood supply to his brain.

Didn't we just release a older QB to what sign another older QB. What is Jerry thinking or is he even thinking.

Are you kidding me? good grief can we please get somebody that can judge talent. a starting corner for a 36 year old backup qb. Jerry my 9 year old needs a job and would do a better job!

Kitna can play. He would have been a great QB in Seattle if Mike Holmgren would not have ruined his confidence. I think Kitna will do ok as aback up.

You people calling Kitna a b/u need to check your stats. He passed for 4000 yards in 2006 and 2004 and then landed on IR at the beginning of 2008. Have you really forgotten what happened to the Cowboys last season when they didn't have a game-ready QB?

Were you laughing when the Cards signed Kurt Warner, too?

Wow.

If Jerry does it, plan on it not working.

Nice move Jerry. Now I have to clean Throw up off my laptop.

He would have been better off keeping Henry (who I'm not that big a fan of anyway) and just getting a 5th round QB to develop. Anyone in the 4th or 5th rounds is going to be just as good a backup as Kitna. And maybe in 5 years the guy'll be ready to take over for Romo...great move Jerry.

Another genius move by Jerry...

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Lions were going to release Kitna in a couple of days, but we just HAD to give up a defensive starter for him... Brilliant! We had too much depth in the secondary, right?

Chad said:

Why Henry? Come on Dallas, enough bad moves already!

Shawn said:

Too bad we didn't include our GM in the trade for Kitna, now that would have been an improvement!

Louis said:

maybe if we put someone worse on the roster Romo will look better? Man this cowboys team should have a show on the oxygen network with all the drama and bad leading roles.
