I'm on vacation right now, but had to get this off my chest. How can this kind of thing happen? How can Alex Rodriguez have an army of agents, public relations consultants, crisis managers, and a host of other spin doctors, and still get the most basic element DEAD WRONG? Someone please tell me, I really would like to know... When he arrived at spring training today, it was A-Rod's chance to once again convey to the American sports fans he screwed up and would like to ask forgiveness. And your army of experts tell you to read it off a piece of paper. UNBELIEVABLE! Which is the problem - you can read any story off a piece of paper. Speaking from the heart shouldn't have to be completely prepared by your people. Its called an OUTLINE!!!!! This moment should have been important enough that you prepared for it long enough to only need an outline. You're going to answer questions anyway, so that preperation should have allowed you speak without it being spelled out. I've seen this same mistake made by high profile athletes so many times. When are these so called spin doctors going to understand what the American public really values??? And by the way, he did it quite well when he looked at his teamates and told them how much he appreciated them being there. Think about that moment in contrast to his opening statement. Nowhere close. I think A-Rod is doing the right thing by confronting this thing head on, but only part of the truth won't do. We know he's lied before, don't compound the mistake by telling us what can easily be perceived as only part of the truth now. What do you think about the "prepared statement?" 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

A-Rod claims he didn't know the stuff he was taken was banned/illegal. The body is a temple. Are you going to go injecting/swallowing items, without knowing what they are? If there was no suspicion there was anything wrong, why go outside team doctors to get this stuff? A-Rod wants to come out of this as the victim. I suspect that Tom Hicks, who, as owner, had asked him point blank if he was using steroids, is considering a major lawsuit, to get a bundle of those millions in his contract back. When a player cheats, it reflects on the whole team. Make sure you have some great attorneys in that herd of spin doctors, A-Rod!!
