Dallas Stars center Mike Modano is an All-Star for the 7th time.

The National Hockey League announced today that he will be a member of the Western Conference roster for the 57th NHL All-Star Game. He'll be the only Stars representative.

The game is Sunday, Jan. 25 at Bell Centre in Montreal.

Modano, 38, has skated in All-Star Games in 1993 (Montreal), 1998 (Vancouver), 1999 (Tampa Bay), 2000 (Toronto), 2003 (Florida) and 2004 (Minnesota). Modano was selected to play on two other occasions, but missed the games due to injury (1994, NY Rangers and 1997, San Jose), and served as captain for the Western Conference All-Stars in 2003 in south Florida.

In 38 games this season, Modano has collected 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points, placing him in a tie for second on the club in goals and game-winners (3), while he ranks fourth in both assists and scoring. With a goal (game-winner) and an assist on Nov. 30 vs. Edmonton, Modano became the 31st player in NHL history to reach the 1,300-point plateau. Already the Stars all-time franchise leader in games played, goals, assists, points, game-winning goals, power play goals and shorthanded goals, Modano became the highest-scoring American-born player in NHL history last season when his two goals on Nov. 7, 2007 at San Jose put him past Phil Housley.

"This is a huge honor for me and I am very excited to represent the Dallas Stars at the All-Star Game," said Modano. "The league always does an outstanding job in putting on a great show at the All-Star Game, and this one will obviously be special for me since my very first All-Star Game was in Montreal at the Forum. With all the celebration of the Canadiens' 100th season, it's sure to be a fun weekend."

It's a shame Loui Erikson is not on the All Star Team. He has consistently been the Stars' best player this season
