Just How Angry Are Cowboys Fans?

I checked out one of the Cowboys online chats on the Dallas Morning News website this week and I was struck by something one fan wrote.

"We're as angry as we've ever been," the fan wrote.

Interesting. But I started to wonder, what difference does that really make?

Jerry Jones' beautiful new stadium is apparently at 85% capacity in terms of seating commitments for 2009 and team officials expect to be fully sold out by the start of the season. According to sportsbusinessdaily.com, the Cowboys still rank #1 in NFL merchandise sales.

So, does the anger really matter, other than generating a few more four-letter words being screamed at the television than usual?

The Cowboys continue to thrive, despite this terrible economy. Jerry is getting what he wants, at least off the field. The fans, despite their anger, are becoming less and less relevant. They're seen as one thing to the Cowboys: dollar signs. And as long as Cowboy fans continue to shell out tons of money for tickets, jerseys, t-shirts and caps, chances are you won't see much of an impact on the front office or the decision-making at Valley Ranch.

Fans, I feel your pain. You deserve to be angry. But I suspect you're so much a part of this team and its legacy that you'd do anything to follow it. There's nothing that could get in the way of that.

Anger? What anger?

I'm not angry, just very disappointed. Maybe if
the Cowboys had played like a pro team instead
of a bunch of spoiled children bickering and crying over everything. Take the I out of team
they have a good coach, he just needs to take
a few of his Children over his knee.

I am an angry fan!!! The disappointment of this Cowboys team is what has driven the anger! There are too many selfish self centered players on this team. Jerry needs to give it up and hire a coach with balls and stay out of his way! A legitimate GM would also work for me. At least I could beg for them to be fired for something like this debacle! It's kind of hard for me to say fire the owner!

I have been a Cowboy fan since their beginning in 1960. Folks I get anger at my wife sometimes, but I don't get rid of her. If I stayed as angree as the folks in this column I would stay angree my whole life. Get over it. It is only a sporting event not a life threatening event. There are things in life more important than THE DALLAS COWBOYS. Just enjoy the wins get angree at the losses and then move on. If the Cowboys make you so angree don't watch. Just spend that time with your family with no interuptions. You may find out that it is just a game played men who haven't grown up yet. We have made the game, players, owner and gm's what they are today. Question: are we looking into the mirror and getting angree at who's looking back at us? No,we need to put the game into a life perspective. The game isn't as important as we make. So back up and enjoy what you have and what is important to you and not what is important to Jerry(money).
