Pacman Jones out Sunday, could miss rest of season

Controversial Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones will miss Sunday's game against the New York Giants and could miss the rest of the season.

Jones suffered a herniated disk in his neck in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers -- his first game back from a six game suspension for violating the NFL's conduct policy -- and is awaiting tests to determine the extent of the injury.

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said a second disk might be damaged, but team doctors don't consider the injury career-threatening.

The injury happened when Jones fell on top of a muffed punt. Several players fell on him before Jones was pulled awkwardly off the pile.

Despite the injury, Jones returned to Sunday's game.

Jones missed all of the 2007 season due to a previous league-mandated suspension for violating the conduct policy.

His suspension this season came after an incident at Dallas' Joule Hotel with a team bodyguard.

In addition to playing cornerback, Jones has been a kick and punt returner. His 13 pass deflections lead the Cowboys.

Well, you get what you pay for Jerry! You paid for a whole lot of nothing. You never should have signed him and you should have dumped him after this last suspension. Now, if he has a career ending neck injury you'll take the hit with the cap which could have gone for a quality player.

HAHA.... way to go Al, er I mean jerry. instead of busting on a player who is actually hurt, why dont ya try looking at complete waste of money... I.E pacman. Or even better yet maybe the coach... He didnt do much while in Denver or pretty much any other place he landed. He is a good Defensive Coach but thats just about it.... I think you are behind al by 5 coaches so ya might wanna start looking for the next victim....

"In addition to playing cornerback, Jones has been a kick and punt returner". Returner? Is that what you call what he was doing? I thought it looked more like a carnival game, the the five yard cornerback toss. They threw him out of the pile like a ragdoll and yes I admit it, I did chuckle a bit.

At least he is out and hopefully will stay out. The office suits hopefully can make the CORRECT decision to get rid of this piece of crap like they should have done in the 1st place. Thats really bad when a franchise like the Cowboys take back yet another grown man that breaks the law several times over and accepts them back in. What does this say to our young kids but hey - if you break the law (even though you are grown and know better), we will take you back and pay you a lot of $$. Politicans and professional sports is the place criminals can always go to no matter what. HOW VERY SAD!!!

Let's face it...Romo doesn't want to have to play in post season games. Messes up his social life.

What a shame there is not one good comment about the man. Did anyone finish the article? Or just start typing. The guy leads the team in pass deflections, even after missing half of the season. Not a bandwagon, and probably a fan longer than anyone who commented, I like it when a player makes an impact. And it bothers me when a Cowboy gets injured. Was anyone here watching them when they were 1 & 15? Doubt it. Anyway, isn't there a Hockey game you guys should be watching??

Good riddens.. These thugs need to be back in jail and not on a football field

First off, regardless of his off the field issues, you never root for a person to be injured. Some of you all are just as classless as Jerry Jones himself when he ripped Marion Barber. Some of you truly don't represent true Cowboys fans. You all probably cheered when Irvin suffered his career ending injury years ago. How about pick a team to cheer on and leave the Boys alone. We really don't need you fairweather fake bandwagon fans from the get-go

The guy got injured, so give him a little break here. Also, the guy was leading the team in pass deflections and had a decent game at DB against the Steelers.

The guy got injured. Two possible herniated disks from someone who should have gotten fined for pulling him over and throwing him back like that. The guy was also leading the team in pass deflections in spite of missing all of those games. Yes, he's a gamble, but as a DB, he's one of the best we have. Not too good on the punt returns, but he hasn't had a chance to return many.

Adam's had his issues, but every game he played he was getting better. This hurts this time at the end of the year! You all cheering for him being gone don't know football. I wouldn't mind to see him gone for next year because he's not someone to look up to for the kids. AND for those of you that actually think Jerry takes a salary cap issue , you don't know anything. He basically cost this team nothing.
