« Time to Ask Again: Can Romo Win the Big Game? |

| Phillips: No questioning Barber's toughness »
You really can't blame the Dallas Cowboys defensive players for being happy with their performance in the team's 20-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Defensive end Marcus Spears summed it up pretty well in the Cowboys locker room late Monday morning. "The way that game ended it's almost like a blur," he said. "What happened?" Well what happened were breakdowns on special teams and with quarterback Tony Romo. A 35-yard punt return for the Steelers and an interception by Romo returned for a touchdown all in the last half of the fourth quarter. "They made the plays and we didn't," Spears said of the Steelers. "We had those guys where we wanted them." Instead the Steelers stunned the Cowboys. Still Spears and cornerback Terence Newman were looking at the positives. "The defense is finally doing its part," Newman said. Said Spears, "We still have a shot at doing what we want to do." That's true. The Cowboys are now the sixth seed in the NFC, meaning -- for now -- the last playoff spot is theirs. |
