What happens if you're the Dallas Cowboys, expected to be a Super Bowl or playoff contender, and December rolls around? You crumble. That's been the case the last several years at Valley Ranch, but now the Cowboys are painted with a different brush: playoff underdogs. So far, so good...with three straight impressive wins. I'm no psychologist, but there's something about proving yourself when all the naysayers have spoken out against you. Maybe it took some real adversity before December for the true Cowboys to stand up. You're seeing some real urgency for this team, a sense of purpose we haven't observed in quite awhile. I think there's some real anger there, and a desire to prove everyone wrong...everyone who wrote off the Cowboys at 5-4. I think adding Pacman Jones back into the mix creates potential to throw a curveball into this new passion and new resolve. The Cowboys don't need distractions right now, they need more of the same fire they've shown the past three weeks. Starting Sunday in Pittsburgh, we start to find out just how much fire they have for this brutal stretch run. |
