Cowboys cut Butler to make room for RB Coleman

The Dallas Cowboys released cornerback Quincy Butler and signed running back Alonzo Coleman off of their practice squad.

The move was necessary because starting running back Marion Barber has a toe injury and may not play Sunday. Tashard Choice was the only other tail back on the active roster.

Butler, at TCU product, has been in and out of the Cowboys organization the past couple of years. He was in training camp this year, before signing with the Saints' practice squad, then was signed to the Cowboys roster when they had several corners out. He did not play in four games on the roster.

Coleman was also on the Cowboys' practice squad all last season. In college at Hampton he set school records for career rushing attempts (826), rushing yards (4,707) and touchdowns (62).
