December 16, 2008 ArchivesTuesday was pretty good for Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff. First he was fishing at Lake Lewisville with is brother and he even caught a 50-pound catfish. The news got better when he was called and told he was going to his first Pro Bowl. In his fourth season, Ratliff has seven sacks and seven is appropriate since he was a seventh-round draft pick by the Cowboys. What a day. ...Are you surprised that Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo didn't make the Pro Bowl! I'm thinking the injury to his pinkie finger may have cost him, but the injury did show how valuable he is to his team. Dallas was a terrible team without him, and are certainly a much better team with him back. In case you didn't notice, Romo's quarterback rating is first in the NFC and second only in the league to Philip Rivers at San Diego. Sounds like ... If they Dallas Cowboys win Sunday they could make the playoffs with a week to spare. Can clinch a playoff spot with: The Dallas Cowboys are sending five players to the Pro Bowl. Four will be starters, including nose tackle Jay Ratliff, who gets his first trip to Hawaii. Three players on offense were selected -- Leonard Davis (second), Andre Gurode (third) and Jason Witten (fifth). Gurode and Witten were named as starters to the NFC squad.
