T-O: Please Stop Talking, Start Scoring

I was a very big supporter of T-O coming to the Cowboys, originally. I thought Owens was the kind of frontline receiver that had been lacking at Valley Ranch since the days of Michael Irvin. I also somewhat felt that T-O had been victimized in Philadelphia, caught up in the hailstorm of fan discontent and petty jealousies with Donovan McNabb. Many of T-O's Eagles teammates came out and said they didn't want Owens to leave...that they loved playing with the guy.

But, as we've seen over the course of his career, T-O the player...can't hold a candle to T-O, the complainer.

I don't know what Owens was trying to accomplish during his interview with Deion Sanders on the NFL Network last night. Does he truly think the Cowboys don't want to utilize their best weapons? Of course they'd love to get him the ball more...who wouldn't? T-O conveniently forgot that the quarterback he shed tears for back in January is just returning from a 4-week injury rehab stint. Did he honestly think Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger would help him put up Pro Bowl numbers in Romo's place? I also fault Deion Sanders here. The timing of the interview was very suspect, being that the NFL Network's next game does not involve the Cowboys. Surely they'd want to interview an Eagle or Cardinal, to promote their Thanksgiving night game? The T-O/Deion interview was intended to whip up controversy....nothing more.

Mission accomplished.

Besides Marion Barber and Jason Witten, T-O is the biggest weapon for Tony Romo and the offense. The Cowboys are lucky, in that they have several key guys who can abuse a defense. There's just one ball to go around. Owens knows this better than anyone. Why would he want to ruin a good thing he's got going here? Believe me, stating through the media that you want the ball more accomplishes nothing. Cowboy coaches know what T-O can do with the ball. Every employee at Valley Ranch knows what T-O can do with the ball. He's not telling us anything we don't already know.

T-O: let your playing do the talking from now on.
